Why you should install this app
Miti is free and completely ad-free — no banners, no upsells. It stays out of your way and simply tells you the date.
It also uses no trackers and no cookies — not in the app, and not on the website. Everything you create, including your reminders, stays on your device. Nothing is sent to us: in fact, we don't run an upload server at all, so there is nowhere for your data to go. You can read more about how that's possible on the maintainability page.
We also put a great deal of care into the accuracy of what we publish. Our panchanga and tithis come from the official राष्ट्रिय पञ्चाङ्ग issued by the Rastriya Panchanga Samiti. Because they release it as a PDF, we run it through OCR into a structured CSV and then verify every entry by hand against the original — and where anything is ambiguous or looks off, we consult an expert before publishing.
And we don't ask you to take our word for it: all of our underlying data is published in open, programmable formats (CSV and YAML) so anyone can check it or build on top of it. You can browse and download every year's source on the Sources page.
Miti is offline-first, and deliberately light on your data. The calendar downloads once and then only checks periodically for a newer version — the yearly data rarely changes, so there is almost nothing to fetch after the first load. That means the app keeps working perfectly for days or months with no internet connection at all: dates, reminders, and the home-screen widget all keep showing you the correct day whether you're online or not.
